Slow Parenting Through Life Transitions

In our latest Heveya community gathering, Bella Koh, founder of Slow School, led an intimate workshop on Slow Parenting Through Life Transitions. Designed as a gentle space for reflection and support, the session explored how slowing down and tuning inward can help parents create more harmonious family connections during times of change. Participants were guided through practices in nervous system regulation, self-reflection and relational awareness. Bella encouraged parents to meet challenges with presence and patience, offering simple yet transformative tools to bring steadiness into both parenting and co-parenting dynamics.

Insights from the workshop:

  1. Begin with a grounding breath work before responding to triggers.

  2. Use gentle rituals to create a sense of safety for your child.

  3. Reflect on your own inner child to break unhelpful patterns.

  4. Model slowness and emotional awareness in daily life.

The workshop was a reminder that slowing down is not only a gift to ourselves, that slowing down is not only a gift to ourselves, but also to our children. By choosing presence over urgency, parents can foster environments of trust, resilience and connection.
